Homeless in Hamilton County

It's a well-known fact that Hamilton County, Indiana is one of the wealthiest counties in America. Whether you're looking at the mansions overlooking Geist Reservoir or shopping in Carmel, it's obvious that Hamilton County is home to some people with deep pockets.

It's not as visible as million dollar homes or high-end boutiques, but Hamilton County has a homeless population, too. Gathering accurate statistics on the homeless is difficult, but it's estimated that 200 Hamilton County families receive eviction notices every month. Some of those have support systems (other family, friends, etc.) they turn to when they lose their homes, but sadly others do not. On a national level, 37% of the homeless population are families; 60% are children and 50% of those are 5 years of age and under.

Family Promise of Hamilton County aims to provide that support system for those who don't have one. As a community of Christians, our goal is to live out Jesus' instructions in Matthew 25. These families may no longer have homes, but they are still our neighbors, and we're called to be the hands and feet of Jesus to serve them.

We invite you to join us in this important mission. Look around this site and see what we're doing. If you can, join us, Together we can make a difference in these families' lives. Together we can show them the love of Christ.
